During Sunday’s game between the Los Angeles Rams and Atlanta Falcons, Devonta Freeman was ejected for throwing a punch at Aaron Donald.

Over the years, the Los Angeles Rams have been fortunate enough to watch Aaron Donald develop into one of the top defenders across the NFL, and opponents tend to describe him as a nightmare to defend.

Take a look at last season for example when Donald found a way to set a career high with 20.5 sacks despite missing all of training camp along with preseason due to a holdout, and it shows just how talented of a defender the Pittsburgh product really is.

With that being said, Donald and the Rams found themselves on the verge of desperation mode heading into Week 7 by riding a three-game losing streak, which is why a matchup against the struggling Atlanta Falcons seemed perfect.

For a team that had gone winless since defeating the Philadelphia Eagles back in Week 2, this seemed like the perfect opportunity for Los Angeles to finally earn a win for the first time since Week 3, especially if Donald found a way to have another monster performance.

Not only did Donald display another strong outing by recording a sack and a fumble recovery, but the two-time Defensive Player of the Year seemed to get in the head of Falcons running back Devonta Freeman.

One can only imagine what was going through Freeman’s head when he thought it would be a good idea to throw a punch in Donald’s direction shortly after Matt Ryan threw an interception, but this clearly wasn’t a smart decision.

First off, the size difference between Freeman (5-foot-8 and 206 pounds) and Donald (6-foot-1 and 280 pounds) alone makes any fight seem like a terrible idea since the Rams star clearly has a major advantage.

And after watching Donald literally pick up Freeman by his pads before the running back was ejected for throwing the punch, Rams fans can’t help but laugh over watching this situation play out the way it did.

Freeman clearly has been frustrated with the way things have gone in Atlanta this season since the team has become one of the laughing stocks across the NFL, but it’s still no excuse to start a fight with a player like Donald.

Hopefully, Freeman learned his lesson from this incident in not only is fighting like this make the league look bad, but also squaring off against Donald will always backfire, no matter who the player is.
