5. Panthers

Unfortunately for the Carolina Panthers, the return of Donte Jackson in Week 8 still wasn’t good enough to take down the undefeated San Francisco 49ers, as Ron Rivera’s team finished on the wrong end of a blowout in this one.

After missing the previous three games with a groin injury, the Panthers were obviously thrilled to see Jackson back in the lineup on Sunday when taking on the 49ers.

And while there are no reasons to be concerned over any potential setbacks with Jackson, adding some depth with a player like Talib just in case never hurts.

Carolina is the perfect example of how quickly a season can change after the Panthers seemed to be a lock for the playoffs last year following a 6-2 start, only to end up finishing the season 7-9.

While there’s no reason to feel concerned over this happening again in 2019, this certainly adds a little extra pressure for Panthers entering the final stretch of the regular season, and any extra help possible on defense could pay off in a big way.

Plus, with Carolina having to play catch up to the New Orleans Saints, and their high-powered offense, defense could be the key difference maker for the Panthers in the race for the NFC South.
