The Los Angeles Rams should give some serious thought into bringing Cam Newton on board to backup Jared Goff in 2020.
A few years ago, just the thought of Cam Newton joining a team like the Los Angeles Rams would sound absolutely ridiculous to even consider, especially after the team used the top overall pick in 2016 on Jared Goff.
However, circumstances change all the time in the NFL, and with the recent news surrounding Newton heading to IR, some football fans are beginning to wonder if the former MVP’s time in Carolina is coming to an end.
Back in September, all hope seemed lost for the Panthers since the team was not only dealing with Newton’s foot injury, but also Carolina starting the new season 0-2.
Luckily, the Panthers have found an unexpected surprise in Kyle Allen, who has gone 5-1 since taking over for Newton, and all of a sudden appears to be in position to continue being the starting quarterback of the future.
Moving on from Newton will certainly be easier said than done for the Panthers after looking at all of the accomplishments throughout his career, but also from a business perspective, Carolina is going to do the right thing.
If this means the Panthers plan on sticking with Allen beyond the 2019 season, and eventually cut Newton in the offseason since they would only lose $2 million in dead cap, then it will be interesting to see where Newton eventually lands for 2020.
Joining the Rams seems like an absolute long shot at the moment when taking numerous factors into consideration, but since anything is possible when it comes to the NFL, here are three reasons why Los Angeles should at least consider the possibility.
Since this is all nothing but speculation at this point, what do the Rams have to lose in considering Newton?
