When LA Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp ran into the TMZ sports crew at LA International Airport, he took on an unfamiliar role of defender of his quarterback Jared Goff

The concerns of LA Rams fans over quarterback Jared Goff are commonplace nowadays. After trending better and better, the LA Rams quarterback responded to a disappointing Super Bowl 53 loss to the New England Patriots by regressing.  So much for a quick bounce back.

Now the LA Rams will surely be forced to part ways with some key contributors due to the constraints of the NFL salary cap.  That means the teams leadership, and very likely fortune, now rests in the hands of quarterback Jared Goff.  Will he be able to handle the pressure?

So it was that the TMZ sports crew ran into LA Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp at LA International airport and posed that question.  To no surprise, Kupp did not hesitate to defend his quarterback

"“We have all the faith in the world in Jared,” the Rams superstar receiver says. “Absolutely love him. We’re going to be just fine.” – LA Rams WR Cooper Kuppp to TMZ Sports"

While there was little chance the wide receive would respond in any other way, he may be correct on this one. Per that report, Goff is excited to work with new offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell. And there is no link of last year’s domino effects of injuries which devastated the offensive line to this season.

Goff’s compensation has been the catalyst of much of the concern this offseason.  While the Rams have the third least paid offensive line in the entire NFL, Jared Goff is the current highest paid quarterback.

The Rams may have overestimated the 2020 salary cap, believing the amount to increase far more than it did.  While Goff is indeed a solid quarterback, he has not performed at the level indicated by his current contract’s compensation.
