LA Rams: Evaluating the cornerstone positions heading into 2020

Evaluating the LA Rams cornerstone positions
First, LA has to protect Goff’s blindside at left tackle. Whitworth may want more money than the Rams want to pay an aging lineman. Second year offensive lineman Bobby Evans might win the job in training camp. But if he slides to left tackle, the Rams will need to fill his 2019 role on the offensive line.

For depth, the Rams can find a quality blindside anchor in the second round in April’s draft. University of Washington left tackle Trey Adams would be the ideal target in the draft. Adams stands 6-feet-7 weighing 337 pounds, and emerges from college after five seasons . At one point, he was projected in the first round, but an ACL injury ended a season prematurely. Now, his is an undervalued lineman with huge upside, setting him up as a solid candidate to develop into the heir apparent to Whitworth.
Second, Goff is under contract through the 2024 season. Unless he gets hurt, Goff should be under center for some time. The quarterback cornerstone spot is filled.
If a superstar collegiate quarterback is within the Rams reach, they should take him. The backup quarterback is always one play away from becoming the starter. There should not be a drastic drop off from the starter to the back up.
Third, cornerback Jalen Ramsey is a young elite cornerback. However, he is in the fifth year of his rookie contract. Ramsey will seek a highly compensated NFL contract, and having committed two first round picks to land him on the roster, the Rams are committed to doing exactly that.
