LA Rams head coach Sean McVay will join ESPN’s pregame coverage of SB LIV from 7 -11 am PT
LA Rams head coach Sean McVay may not be leading his team into Super Bowl LIV, but that doesn’t mean he needs to watch it from the comfort of his living room. Instead, he will have a bird’s eye view of the action as he joins the ESPN four-hour PostSeason NFL Countdown.
McVay has faced both teams in recent years – he faced the San Francisco 49ers twice in 2019, while he faced off in one of the highest scoring contests against the Kansas City Chiefs in 2018. Plus, he led his team to compete in Super Bowl LIII in a loss to the New England Patriots.
The telecast will air from 7:00 – 11:00 am pacific time, and McVay will join host Suzy Kolber, analysts Louis Riddick and Steve Young and insiders Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday, Feb. 2.
"“I’m very honored and excited to serve as a guest analyst with ESPN for their pregame coverage of the Super Bowl,” McVay said in a statement. “I look forward to helping provide an in-depth look at both teams and highlight the specific matchups and schemes from a coaching perspective that have been instrumental in both the Chiefs and 49ers earning a chance to play for a world title.” – McVay interview as cited by Stu Jackson, TheRams.com staff writer"
While the nations NFL fanbase will enjoy the insights of McVay in discussing football strategy, it will afford the Rams head coach to further analyze a division rival.
McVay had lent his insiders analysis to television coverage before, as the Rams faced the Dallas Cowboys in a preseason game. He did a fair job in that televised game, so he will have the chance to reach a larger audience this weekend.
Of course, there will be plenty of items awaiting McVay’s attention when he returns to his office on Monday, February 3rd. But for one more weekend, he will remain involved in the 2019 Football season.
