The LA Rams will introduce new coaching additions at a press conference scheduled for 11:00 am pacific time for Wednesday, February 12, 2020.

The LA Rams have lost a number of coaches this off-season. Some by design, others by attrition. But the real news for the fans of the team rests in who is taking over in their place? Well, that will all be placed to rest on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at the 11:00 am PT press conference recently announced on TheRams.com website.

While there will be more coaching hires, this conference will introduce the three major coaches hired this year:  Offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell, Defensive coordinator Brandon Staley, and Special teams coordinator John Bonamego.

Of course, we’d already been doing our part to lay the groundwork for introducing the new coaching hires.  Adding O’Connell and Staley will give the Rams one of the youngest coaching core staff in the NFL.

The book on OC Kevin O’Connell is his effort to place the offense into the position to succeed. That will likely translate into changing the Rams offense playbook slightly, giving the team more passing options in early downs, and more pass protection and misdirection play on third downs.  It’s all intended to give the quarterback confidence early into the game to set a positive tone.

DC Brandon Staley has worked with defensive Vic Fangio for several years, learning the art of disguising the defense.  He is another fresh young coaching talent added to the Rams and will be counted on to re-innovate the defense in 2020.

Special teams coordinator John Bonamego does not fit the trend of youth-movement to the coaching staff, but his special teams have historically been some of the best in the NFL. While much was said about former ST coordinator John Fassell, the Rams special teams had fallen out of the top 15 over the past two seasons.  Bonamego’s squad, in stark contrast, remained in the top ten of the NFL over the same time frame.
