LA Rams Day 4 NFL Scouting Combine event summary
By Bret Stuter
The Day 4 NFL Scouting Combine news continued relatively light. But we did learn more information about the proposed CBA, GM Les Snead’s approach to the draft and Director Scott is new PFATS president
Day four of the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine has officially concluded, and in doing so has marked the arrival of the last group of 2020 NFL Draft prospect, the defensive backs. The 2020 NFL Scouting Combine has invited 337 players to meet and greet the NFL scouts, executives and undergo a series of measurements, tests, and drills to set an NFL available database for all 32 teams to base important decisions. To process all 337 players in an orderly fashion, the NFL designates arriving players as a member of four separate groups and staggers their arrival so that they arrive on different days.
Today, the final group arrived, which makes Indianapolis, Indiana a very busy place indeed. Tomorrow’s Day 5 schedule will include:
Group 1– QBs, WRs, TEs – Limited testing~ Interviews ~ On-field Workout
Group 2 – OL, RBs, STs – NFLPA Meeting ~ Bench press ~ Interviews ~ Psychological Testing
Group 3 – LBs, DL – Media ~ Medical Examinations ~ Position coach interviews ~ Psychological Testing
Group 4 – CBs, Ss – Measurements ~ Hospital pre-exam & X-rays ~ Interviews
Day 5 is the only day with all invited players will be actively engaged. On Day 6, Group 1 is scheduled to depart from Indianapolis, Indiana and return home.
The buzz about quarterback hand sizes continued today. But LA Rams QB Jared Goff has the same size hands as top prospect QB Joe Burrow, just 9 inches.

The NFLPA 32 members did squeak by the proposed NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement. The CBA now moves to the NFLPA members and will need a majority vote for ratification. We had covered the impact of the main CBA points upon the LA Rams, and will certainly go into more detail when the full document has been ratified by both sides and becomes available for closer scrutiny.
The LA Rams official website published the full detailed discussion by GM Les Snead at his scheduled Tuesday press conference. Snead discussed the shopping list in three ways: first, can the team find players to replace veterans on the team? Second, can the team find players to develop? Third, can the team find players to fill specific roles? Snead admits that the team cannot draft for “need” when they start picking on day two. Snead admits that the team is now in the process of comparing their draft board to their free agency board, and scrutinizing which players will be available at each round in the NFL Draft.
We learned that the LA Rams truly have an interest in re-signing LT Andrew Whitworth, OLB Dante Fowler Jr., and ILB Cory Littleton. While the team may not have sufficient funds to pay for all three today, we found a quick fix to solve that problem.
Finally, we learned that LA Rams’ Senior Director of Sports Medicine and Performance Reggie Scott was sworn in as the president of the Professional Football Athletic Trainers Society (PFATS). The role is a five-year commitment, where year one is president-elect, three years of service as president, and the final year as past president – who is responsible for mentoring the new president-elect to assume the president role at the end of the year.
Day five will likely have plenty of traditional NFL Combine information available. Quarterbacks, wide receivers, and tight ends will all be scrutinized by the nation during their on-field drills.
