With reports today of the New York Giants releasing outside linebacker Alec Ogletree, his history links him as a potential signing with the LA Rams. Here are 3 reasons why that happens
The LA Rams, like every NFL team, must seek economical and effective ways to restock and improve the roster for the upcoming 2020 NFL season. That can mean several things to the team’s front office. It could mean raising the ceiling on a position by adding a more talented player to a position. It could mean adding versatility to a position by adding a player capable of handling a wider range of roles or responsibilities for the team. Or it could simply mean decreasing the cost of a player at a particular position and adding another player with similar production but at a cheaper cost.
That’s the task facing 32 NFL front offices right now. “Getting better” can mean quite many and different things to each team, depending on their particular situation. And so it goes with each available player, even those with a history with the LA Rams. Each situation is unique.
Such is the case with former Ram OLB Alec Ogletree. After the Rams signed him to a three-year $42.5 million contract extension, the team traded him to the NY Giants. At the time, Rams general manager Les Snead explained the trade as one needed to stock the roster with players who were more ideally suited for the new 3-4 defense scheme defensive coordinator Wade Phillips deployed.
Now OLB Alec Ogletree’s time with the New York Giants has come to an end.
Is it time to consider adding him to the Rams roster for 2020? Here are three reasons to do so.
