The LA Rams have released 2020 dates for team activities. Be sure to mark your calendars for these events
The 2020 NFL Scouting Combine has come and gone. The attention of NFL Fans now turns towards free agency and the 2020 NFL Draft. Of course, after that, the LA Rams will begin their 2020 offseason programs. Today, those dates have been released.
Of course, we’ve talked at length about the importance of the 2020 offseason for the LA Rams’ success. Of course, some very important events do not have a formal date assigned. The most important of which is the upcoming NFL players vote upon the proposed Collective Bargaining Agreement.
If the new CBA is approved, all NFL teams will have some pretty noticeable changes in store. The players’ share of NFL revenue will increase, which will add dollars to the salary cap of all 32 NFL teams. Since the Rams have had no issue spending up to their cap, this will be a positive development. Here are some important dates on a 2020 timeline to keep track of this year.
March 10, 2020, 4:00 pm ET – deadline for teams to designate Franchise or Transition players
March 16-18, 2020 – NFL teams are permitted to contact player agents and negotiate potential
contract terms. A.k.a. Legal tampering period.
March 18, 2020, 4:00 pm ET – teams must exercise all contract options, submit all qualifying offers to RFAs, minimum salary offers to all ERFAs, be under the 2020 NFL Salary cap for top 51 players, NFL new year begins, Free agency period begins, the trading period for 2020 NFL year begins.
March 29-April 1, 2020 – Annual league meeting at Palm Beach, Florida. Compensatory Draft Picks for 2020 NFL Draft will be awarded.
April 17, 2020 – RFAs must sign offer sheets.
April 20, 2020 – Phase I LA Rams offseason program
April 23-25, 2020 – 2020 NFL Draft
May 4, 2020 – Phase II LA Rams offseason program
May 8-10, 2020 – LA Rams rookie minicamp
May 26, 2020 – Phase III LA Rams offseason program
June 15-18, 2020 – LA Rams mandatory veteran minicamp
September 10, 2020 – 2020 NFL season begins
The NFL’s first snap will take place in six months. In the meantime, the LA Rams will say goodbye to nearly a third of 2019’s active 53 man roster, will hopefully welcome back some players to their new 2020 contracts. Then the Rams will welcome new free agents and will draft new rookies to the team.
A lot of old faces departing, and an equal number of new faces joining the team. Buckle up and enjoy the ride. This one will be memorable in many ways.
