NFL bans LA Rams visits w 2020 NFL Draft prospects, may postpone free agency
By Bret Stuter
The NFL has placed new restrictions upon all teams. The LA Rams are banned from visiting with 2020 NFL Draft prospects. NFL Free Agency may be delayed as well.
The LA Rams have a lot riding on their success in the 2020 NFL Draft. Hopefully, they have taken great notes so far. So far, the threat of traveling and gathering in large groups has caused many sporting events to cancel, suspend, or postpone events.
While this is a very dynamic area for many sports who are competing today, the NFL has been somewhat insulated due to this being the off-season. The reason that has been the case is that the league has few scheduled events for the immediate future. But the NFL teams have been aiming at collegiate Pro Days, where many scouts and executives gather to observe, track, time, and record the performances of 2020 NFL Draft hopefuls. Since each school or university has these events scheduled a year in advance, they have been on the calendars of NFL teams for quite some time.
Due to the risk of spreading the coronavirus at gatherings like these, the NFL has determined it is better to ban visiting with NFL Draft prospects until further notice.
Per Albert Breer, the key points are:
• Clubs prohibited from hosting prospects.
• Clubs prohibited from visiting prospects.
• Teams can do calls/video conferences.
• Calls limited to 3 per week with a prospect.
• Calls can’t last more than an hour.
Other dates in the NFL could be affected as well. We know that the NFL Free Agency market is scheduled to begin on March 18, 2020. That date may be postponed, based on the recent report by Pro Football focus.
The response to the increased risk of travel and gathering of people to the spread of the headlining disease will play a part in a number of future decisions. If you are concerned about how this affects you personally, we urge you to check out the following websites.
