As a change of pace, let’s focus for a moment on LA Rams QB Goff and LT Whitworth and their charitable efforts to benefit the Los Angeles Food Bank

The LA Rams are in the midst of the 2020 NFL Free Agency period.  At this time, headlines splash at the mention of NFL players signing lucrative new contracts to play the game of football. Some of those contracts translate into millions of dollars transferring from NFL teams to players.

The LA Rams offense is let by quarterback Jared Goff, and he is protected by left tackle Andrew Whitworth. So it makes sense for the same tandem to take the lead in relief efforts for the Los Angeles community.  And that is exactly what is happening today, Thursday, March 19, 2020.

NFL Athletes are incredibly important to their communities, as many are very active in helping in worthwhile community social work, while still others cut checks to, or even create outright, charities to help the poor or vulnerable across the nation.  While players do so much in their community, additional community aid originates from the NFL team itself.

For instance, this is a recently announced effort for the Los Angeles area to raise money for the local United Way to help raise money and awareness for the United Way of Greater Los Angeles specifically for their Pandemic Relief Fund and Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.

While there are plenty of LA Rams stories to discuss, with so much non-football happening in the nation and in your communities right now, it’s important to read that human compassion element of the sport as well.

NFL athletes and organizations are not socially distancing themselves from the cities, towns, and neighborhoods that support them. In fact, more and more, they are reaching out to help in many ways. It’s up to media outlets to get the word out.

Consider this our installment to that responsibility.  Whether or not you feel captivated by the fact that the LA Rams, Jared Goff, and Andrew Whitworth are helping to feed and raise money for worthwhile community needs is not the issue.   It’s our duty to let you know it’s happening. People, and particularly folks associated with the LA Rams, care.
