What about other team moves?

The LA Rams failed to meet the NFL deadline, so the team has lost rights to match offers for DE Morgan Fox, DB Donte Deayon, or OLB Josh Carraway.  The Rams can still sign any or all of these players.  The downside is that the team will not be able to exercise the right to match offers from any other NFL team.

The Rams defense has officially lost three defensive starters – DE Michael Brockers, OLB Donte Fowler Jr., and ILB Cory Littleton – who have signed contracts with other NFL teams.  The Rams also lost S Eric Weddle to retirement and elected not to pick up the option year for slot CB Nickell Robey Coleman. The team also released veteran OLB Clay Matthews. Finally, the team’s contracts with both ILB Bryce Hager and S Marqui Christian had expired.

With the team failing to retain the restricted free agent rights of  Fox, Deayon, and Carraway, the Rams currently stand to lose 11 players from the defensive side of the ball.

While the team had signed OLB Leonard Floyd and DL A’Shawn Robinson, the defense depth has been decimated. With the net loss of two key linebackers and three defensive back, the priorities for the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft will likely emphasize these positions.

With just an estimated $8 million to spend, the Rams won’t be very active until the team makes a trade or additional cuts.  Two players who could be on the trade block to free up cap space are right tackle Rob Havenstein and running back Malcolm Brown. The team focus will then towards the 2020 NFL Draft.
