LA Rams: Latest 7 round mock draft 5.1 – March 2020
By Larry Brake
LA Rams draft Jeff Okudah, CB the Ohio State University
In a shocking move, Les Snead agrees to trade CB Jalen Ramsey to the New York Giants. This trade allows LA to jump into the fourth overall selection of round 1. New York gets Ramsey and LA’s compensatory third-round pick.
Jeff Okudah is the Rams selection in round 1. Okudah played collegiately in the Big 10 Conference school of Ohio State University. He is one of those generational talented players that you have to grab when the opportunity presents itself.
Okudah stands 6-feet-1 weighing 205 pounds which is very similar to Ramsey. At the NFL Combine, he ran a 4.48-second 40-yard dash. Most of all, Lance Zierlein of nfl.com grades him at 7.15. He reports the following:
"… He has size, length and foot quickness to road-block press release and elite closing burst to close catch windows or eliminate yards after catch. … but quarterbacks rarely target and beat him over the top. He has a rigid adherence to technique, but squeezing coverage even tighter and trusting his traits, talent and recovery speed could make him one of the top shutdown corners in the game."
Who knows if Ramsey will re-sign with the Rams or not? Rather than chance it, Okudah has the potential to become a better corner. His rookie contract would be a better investment than breaking the bank to pay Ramsey.
Here is the second pick for the LA Rams 2020 draft.
