LA Rams: Latest 7 round mock draft 5.1 – March 2020

LA Rams draft Austin Jackson, OT USC

OT Austin Jackson is the Rams selection as the 52nd overall pick in round 2. The Rams continue to draft offensive linemen to surround Jared Goff. Jackson played college football at USC.

Jackson stands 6-feet-5 weighing 322 pounds, according to his Combine measurements. He bench-pressed 225 pounds 27 times. He ran a swift 5.07-second 40-yard dash, especially for a player his size.

The scouting website, thedraftnetwork.com, reports the following concerning Jackson:

"… Has the foot speed to spring out of his stance and challenge speed rushers’ landmarks around the edge. Has some impressive reps keeping rushers at the edge of his reach and working them well beyond the peak of the pocket. Punch is quick and efficient in pass pro and he generally does a great job of widening his opponents track to the quarterback. Has the lateral movement skills and length to find success as a zone blocker. …"

Jackson is larger than the prototypical size (6-feet-4 weighing 310 pounds) for offensive tackles. He gets to learn from Andrew Whitworth, for a while, before taking the left tackle job. Jackson might become the next Orlando Pace or Jackie Slater.
