He is a big, speedy physical presence on the field. Gibson stands 6-feet-0 weighing 228-pounds, per Combine measurements. He ran a 4.39-second 40-yard dash at the Combine.
In the NFL’s long past, it was common for running backs to be moved to wide receiver. Frank Gifford, of Monday Night Football fame, played wide receiver after several seasons at running back. Lenny Moore is another example. Both players are hall of fame players.
Gibson creates problems for opposing defenses. They would have to pay attention to where he lines up in each formation. Whether as a runner or receiver, Gibson has the ability to score on any given play.
At Memphis, he touched the football 77 times for 1203 yards from scrimmage with 14 touchdowns. Amazingly, he averaged 15.6 yards per touch. Gibson moves the chains downfield, in a hurry.
Versatility is the key component in this pick. Gibson is a playmaker wherever he is on the field. Expect to see him play as the slot receiver when he’s not running the ball.
Here is the fourth pick for the Rams 2020 draft.
