LA Rams select Calvin Throckmorton, G/T Oregon

LA continues to stockpile versatile offensive linemen. Calvin Throckmorton is taken as the 199th overall selection in round 6. He has a huge physical presence on the field.

Throckmorton stands 6-feet-5 weighing 317 pounds. Physically, he is the prototypical tackle or guard. He played both in Oregon.

According to the Oregon football website, he made 52 consecutive starts to finish his college career. As a tackle, he started 41 games on the right side and five on the left side. Also, he started 3 games at right guard and 3 games at center.

Throckmorton gives the Rams coaching staff several options for him to play. Injuries are just one play away from happening. He gives LA the luxury of being able to get plugged into any available slot.

In case you are wondering about his Combine performance, he ran a 5.57-second 40-yard dash. He bench-pressed 225 pounds 23 times. He vertically leaped 27 inches with a broad jump of 97 inches (just over 8 feet).

His scouting report by thedraftnetwork.com is interesting, read the following:

"Plays with good technique on the edge and the interior. … He has true positional flex and shows the intelligence to play different positions up front. Also displays good instincts to anticipate stunts …"

Here’s a look at the Rams’ next selection.
