Should LA Rams move to round 1 of NFL Draft for this player?
By Larry Brake
Should the LA Rams make a move in order to draft this player in round one of the 2020 NFL Draft?
The LA Rams are probably done pursuing free agents until after the NFL Draft. Salary cap space is slowly suffocating the Rams’ ability to spend cash for roster upgrades. Would the Rams move up into round 1one of the 2020 NFL Draft for Oklahoma wide receiver CeeDee Lamb?
The Rams could use a big-play receiver with big-play potential. Lamb played in the air raid offense at the University of Oklahoma, standing 6-feet2 and weighing 198 pounds, according to his NFL Combine measurements.
In his college days, Lamb played just three seasons, caught 173 passes for 3292 yards, and hauled in 32 touchdowns. Most importantly, he averaged an amazing 19 yards per reception. Talk about a big playmaker, looks like he is exactly that. At the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine, Lamb ran a 4.5-second 40-yard dash. He bench-pressed 225 pounds 11 times. Lamb broad jumped 124 inches and vertically leaped 34.5 inches. He is a very athletic receive.
The Rams would need to trade Brandin Cooks in order to get Lamb in round 1. Perhaps the Rams could make a deal with the New York Jets. If so, LA would move into the 11th overall spot in the draft.
A potential move for LA Rams to draft Lamb in round one
The LA Rams are interested to find a receiver to complement wide receivers Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods in the passing attack for the 2020 season. Even tight end Tyler Higbee is good at finding the open windows in the zone coverages. Lamb gives the Rams an opportunity to turn a short gain into a score on any given play.
The LA Rams could package WR Brandin Cooks and the round-three compensatory pick for the 11th overall spot in the first round. The New York Jets have more salary-cap space to absorb Cooks’s expensive contract. And the Jets need a veteran slot receiver for Sam Darnold to target on third down and stretch the field.
Lamb could be the missing piece in the Rams aerial assault. Meanwhile, WR Brandin Cooks could use a fresh start after a disappointing 2019 season. Let’s see how things play out leading up to the draft.
