San Francisco 49ers

Ramblin Fan – Based on your understanding of their team needs, how do you see the 2020 NFL Draft board lining up for them? (such as deep in their biggest need, lots of BPA talent to help, their needs do not align well with this draft)

Erik Hindenburg (DraftRite) -The 49ers have two first-round picks, a plethora of talent on the team already, and a ton of weapons poised to make another run. They have the luxury of truly drafting BPA which puts them most likely to be successful.

Ramblin Fan  -Out of the three NFC West rivals, How do you expect their chances will end up in 2020- better, about the same, more challenging? Of course, if you can cite a player or two for each team that they will likely land, that would be great.

Erik Hindenburg (DraftRite) – I think the 49ers will have a more difficult road to the divisional crown next season, I likely won’t pick them to repeat. Some key players like Richard Sherman will give way to Father Time, and I still think Jimmy G and his contract will be this team’s downfall. Ideal first-round targets would be Javon Kinlaw, DT South Carolina, and an interior offensive lineman, perhaps Lloyd Cushenberry LSU or Cesar Ruiz Michigan.

The 49ers should target Bryce Hall, CB Virginia, to pair with Richard Sherman. Hall was a lot of guys CB1 entering the season before the emergence of Jeffrey Okudah and an unfortunate injury pushed him out of the spotlight.

Ramblin Fan –  Since this 2020 NFL Draft process has been cut short, can you give a general assessment of how each of the NFC rivals will handle this unique scouting process leading up to the draft?

Erik Hindenburg (DraftRite) – I truly believe this is going to be a unique draft in the sense that teams simply do not have the information available that they are accustomed to. Medical questions are really going to hurt prospects in this draft. General Managers may be a little quicker to trade up for or overdraft guys they covet.

I expect all three NFC rival teams to be active in trade calls, and I expect there to be more need-based drafting as teams will have done the most work on positions of need. BPA is already more of a myth than an actual practice, and I expect it to be tossed almost completely out after the first round this year.
