LA Rams 2020 NFL Draft harvests talented treasure trove – Mock Draft 6.0

Round 3 Pick 104
The LA Rams need a bona fide pass rusher and finally, land a good one with their fourth pick in edge rusher Alton Robinson out of Syracuse. While the Rams want to address the edge pass rusher in the draft, the value at 52, 57 and 84 was simply not there. Now, at pick 104 in round three, the Rams find a player with everything they need for a pass rusher.
While he may not be the “best in slot” for the LA Rams edge, it’s a matter of value for this team now with a finite number of draft picks and the reality that anyone selected by the Rams will line up next to Aaron Donald. Robinson is a three-year starter for Syracuse, where he racked up 115 tackles, 19 sacks, 32 tackles for loss, and five passes defended. At 104, he’s the pick for the Rams to fill some pretty big pass-rushing shoes vacated by Dante Fowler Jr.
He stands 6-foot-3 and weighs in at 264-pounds. At that size, he has plenty of options, beginning with whether to take a two-point or three-point stance. And he has the type of deceptiveness that masks stunt on the defensive line, like this one which allows him to put pressure on the quarterback with an inside stunt.
Robinson has everything the Rams are looking for but needs coaching to truly express all that power and agility. To be fair, that should not be a problem for the Rams, who signed Denver Broncos’ OLB coach Brandon Staley to take over as the team’s new defensive coordinator. He gives Staley the raw talent to become a great pass rusher, as well as a wrecking ball on run defense. While he had an alleged transgression in 2016, no charges were filed. In this year’s circumstances, That will be enough to pause many NFL teams from making the selection prior to the Rams naming him at pick 104.
