LA Rams 2020 NFL Draft harvests talented treasure trove – Mock Draft 6.0
By Bret Stuter
Round 6 Pick 199
Despite the return of Andrew Whitworth at left tackle, the LA Rams are already looking for his successor in 2020. They find the ideal replacement in offensive tackle Trey Adams out of Washington University.
Adams is huge, standing 6-foot-8 and tipping the scales at 318-pounds. His progression throughout his college career has gone the opposite direction that many NFL teams had hoped. He was a standout freshman and sophomore left tackle on the Huskies’ offensive line. But he suffered an ACL/MCL injury to his knee and was lost for the remainder of the year. When he attempted to return to the starting line, he suffered a back injury which hampered him even more. He finally put together a healthy 2019 season, but his play was not as dominating as before.
Health concerns for Adams have a solid foundation, which is awfully difficult to ignore in 2020 when an NFL team’s ability to gain confidence by meeting with a player directly is next to impossible.
Adams, once a projected early round-one draft selection, may fall to day three. But he is still the same player who was vicious, fearless, physical and loved to initiate contact. He simply needs the right coaching to learn to trust himself again and improve his techniques to the NFL level. He falls due to medical concerns. But the Rams select him because he has such a promising upside.
