LA Rams pick Damien Lewis, G LSU

The Rams elect to take another guard as their first-round 3 selection. Damien Lewis is the pick as the 84th overall selection of the draft.

Lewis stands 6-feet-2 weighing 327 pounds. He is within the parameters of the prototypical ideal size of an offensive guard. Lewis is similar physically with Rams lineman Jeremiah Kolone (6-feet-3 316-pounds).

At the Combine, Lewis ran a 5.24-second 40-yard dash. He bench-pressed 225 pounds 27 times. Joe Marino of thedraftnetwork.com is impressed with Lewis.

Marino writes the following description of Lewis’ ability:

"Thick and powerful. Dominates in drive block situations. Love the way he unlocks his hips and accelerates his feet to create vertical push and widen run lanes. Aggressive worker in the run game but does a great job of staying controlled. Sets a consistent base and generally plays with low pads which helps him take over if his hands are fit. Has the mean streak and maulers mentality. Always looks for work and he has some nasty moments as a down blocker. Drops a firm anchor to absorb power."

Lewis becomes the next block to improve the Rams roster. He appears to have the aggressiveness that can win the battle in the trenches. He protected Joe Burrow in route to the National Championship.

Here is the third player who would bolster the Rams roster at his position.
