LA Rams pick Lamical Perine, RB Florida

The Rams decide to take a running back in the fourth round. Lamical Perine is selected as the 126th overall selection of the draft. Perine played collegiately at Florida.

More from Rams Draft

Perine ran for 2485 yards with 22 touchdowns and caught 72 passes for 674 yards with eight touchdowns. From scrimmage, he averaged 5.6 yards each time he touched the ball. He played in 50 games in Florida.

Perine stands 5-feet-11 weighing 211 pounds. Physically, he is similar to John Kelly (5-feet-10 205). Perine is not as flashy as some running backs but is able to get the job done.

He had a very good week of practice at the Senior Bowl in January. Perine turned head of NFL scouts by his practice performance. Zach Goodall of si.com writes the following:

"… Perine still showed some explosion through the hole on some running attempts, and caught some passes in team drills as well. His efforts earned attention from NFL scouts, with a Philadelphia Eagles scout meeting with Perine for about 15 minutes following the third South team practice."

Perine upgrades the Rams running back room. He becomes the potential replacement for Todd Gurley because of his dual-threat skill set. Hopefully, he can remain healthy.

Here is the fourth player who would bolster the Rams roster at his position.
