LA Rams select Justin Strnad, LB Wake Forest

The Rams add another piece to the linebacker corps. Justin Strnad is taken in round 6 as the 199th overall pick of the draft. Strnad stands 6-feet-3 weighing 238 pounds.

Strnad played at Wake Forest from 2016-2019 after redshirting the 2015 season. He made 244 total tackles with 147 of them being solo tackles. He had a good Combine performance.

Strnad ran the 40-yard dash in 4.74 seconds. He broad jumped 113 inches and vertically leaped 29 inches. He impressed Joe Marino of thedraftnetwork.com. Marino writes the following:

"Smart, physical, fluid and fast linebacker. Easy movement skills for zone drops and he is smooth working laterally. Looks comfortable in zone coverage with a sharp ability to cue the backfield and work into throwing lanes. He trusts his landmarks and technique in coverage, taking care of his assignments. Love his pursuit effort and he brings an exciting element of physicality to the table. Explodes into contact and has terrific balance."

Zierlein of nfl.com reports this:

"He’s built like a tall, puffed-up safety, but he also runs like one … He’s an explosive athlete and aggressive striker, … He has the twitch and burst to roam from sideline to sideline and should play faster and more efficiently as his recognition improves…"

Here’s the next player in the revised Rams draft.
