Pick 84
After trading out of picks 52 and 57, the LA Rams have accumulated additional picks in the 2020 NFL Draft. While there are always offers on the table, the LA Rams weigh the value of any offers with the value of who is available. At their third pick of the draft, the Rams decide to hold at 84 and select wide receiver Chase Claypool from the University of Notre Dame
The Rams need physicality, height, and speed at the wide receiver position, and Claypool delivers the trifecta. Of course, in some mocks, Claypool is long gone before this pick, and the Rams would likely select another player who falls unexpectedly. But in this mock draft, the Rams choose the 6-foot-4 238-pound receiver without hesitation.
Claypool is my WR14. Ton of physical gifts that make him a rare athlete even more so than the norm. Very raw as a receiver with some concerning concentration drops on film. Best role for him would be as a big slot imo, I wouldn't put him outside and ask him to win there.

The Rams receivers pride themselves on being able to make and hold blocks, and Claypool will only add to that expertise. It’s part of his trademark, a raw physicality he brings to the line of scrimmage on every play, which is so complimentary to the Rams current stable of receivers. He brings thunder to the offense, a tall target who can catch almost anything that comes close to him. But he’s raw. For an NFL team looking for a deliver-now guy, he will likely not draw immediate interest.
But the Rams have three solid receivers for 2020 and can afford to invest in a tall enforcer for the offense. While he may not earn starting minutes, he is a great receiver to add now for future development. And he is also a great projection for the Rams special teams, with speed to burn.
