Round 3 pick 104: LB Troy Dye

With the departing of Cory Littleton, the Los Angeles Rams need a replacement at the linebacker position. Linebacker Troy Dye out of Oregon would be an excellent replacement. Their dimensions are very similar as they have the same height, weight, arm length, and hand sizes are very similar. Specifically, Dye is 6-foot-3 weighs 231-pounds, has a long arm-reach of 32 1/4 inches and a hand size of 9 3/8 inches.  He is very versatile when it comes to his skill set; his coverage skills are better than most, and he can be sent from the inside to rush the passer.

Pairing Dye with Kiser would be a good tandem that compliments each other as Kiser is more suited to stop the run allowing Dye to excel in stopping the pass. He is the definition of a sideline to sideline defender and is great when it comes to clean up tackles.

Dye seems to have a good football IQ as he always tries to strip the ball or jump passes though he has the tendency to fall for play-action passes. He looks small for his 6’4″ frame as he is only 236 pounds. The lack of weight can be an issue, especially at linebacker.

If he can have the ability to gain and maintain more weight he should be fine. Troy Dye is a solid day 2 player for the draft. He is projected as a mid-second to late-third and would be a day one starter. If Biadasz is off the board before 84 I’d recommend getting him there as him lasting to 104 might be a stretch.
