Where do LA Rams rivals pick in round one of 2020 NFL Draft?
By Bret Stuter
While the LA Rams patiently await round two, their NFC rivals picks in round one could dictate much about team’s success in 2020 season
The LA Rams may not be a factor in the 2020 NFL Draft as far as day one, but the rest of the NFC West rivals do have picks in round one, and any of those picks could play a role in the Rams’ success in the 2020 NFL season.
For the record, the San Francisco 49ers own picks 13 and 31, the Seattle Seahawks own pick 27, and the Arizona Cardinals hold pick eight. Right now, the Arizona Cardinals at eight appear to be a 50/50 shot at trading out of their pick. If they stay at eight, look for the team to select an offensive tackle like Jerrick Wills or defensive tackle like Derrick Brown (which would be good for the Rams) or a linebacker like Isaiah Simmons, which would be less favorable for the Rams, who are interested in linebacker talent in this draft.
The San Francisco 49ers hold picks 13 and 31. Let’s discuss pick 31 first. Several teams like the Houston Texans and yes, the LA Rams, could be looking to trade back into round one. That will be something we’ll need to monitor.
But at 13, the 49ers will most likely be looking to take a wide receiver at 13. Look for either Jerry Jeudy or Henry Ruggs III to the 49ers.
The Seattle Seahawks at 27 will have missed out on significant impact players and will also likely be interested in trading back. If they don’t, their pick will say a lot about their interest in re-signed Jadaveon Clowney. If the pick an edge rusher at 27, they could go with Penn State Yetur Gross-Matos. Of course, they could roll the dice on offensive tackle Mekhi Becton as well.
All in all, the first round may have an impact on the Rams’ success in the 2020 NFL season. But it could play a huge part in the Rams draft options as well.
