LA Rams select OLB Terrell Lewis with pick 84 of 2020 NFL Draft
The LA Rams picked OLB Terrell Lewis with their 84th pick of the 20920 NFL Draft which DC Bradon Staleys knows very well
With the 84th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Rams selected Terrell Lewis, outside linebacker from Alabama. While Lewis certainly slid down the draft he had solid production while on the field when he managed to stay healthy.
Lewis is a stalwart 6-foot-4 and 262 pounds of nearly pure muscle. One of the best indicators for a draft prospect is how that player performs in the annual Senior Bowl. Lewis was a standout this year. He has often been compared to LA Rams outside linebacker Dante Fowler Jr., a player who he will attempt to take the place of in the Rams 2020 defense. And with new defensive coordinator Brandon Staley somewhat of an OLB expert, having coached both Von Miller and Khalil Mack, and watching Dante Fowler Jr. depart for free agency, you have to believe he is drolling over this prospect.
Yes, Injuries are a concern with him so let’s look at some other options of who else was on the board.
Center Tyler Biadasz from Wisconsin
Tyler Biadasz is the reigning Remington Award winner for the best center in the country. A starter for 3 years in Wisconsin, Biadasz is a great run blocker. He consistent with his technique and is smart with his pre-snap calls. While pass blocking isn’t the best he only gave up 4 sacks in 3 years.
Biadasz struggled against stronger opponents and can struggle to move a bigger opponent. He also had an issue with getting front-heavy as he from time to time lunged after blocks instead of running to them.
Even with those issues, Biadasz was one of the reasons Johnathan Taylor rushed for over 6,000 yards in his collegiate career. While he has some issues with being moved by bigger opponents his technique is solid and should help solidify an offensive line.
Corner Amik Robertson from Louisiana Tech
With the run on cornerbacks, the Rams need one of their own before they are all gone. Amik Robertson is a smaller corner at 5-foot-9 and180-pounds, but he has the production to make up for it. His average for return yards after an interception is 18.9 yards with 3 touchdowns. Not only does he take the ball away but he flips the field position as well.
Robertson led LA Tech in all 3 seasons in interceptions and had 14 total in his career. Robertson also tied the national lead in pass breakups with 16. A very good comp for him is Nickell Robey-Colemen with the size and ability to turn the ball over.
