LA Rams Pick 136: Other players remain on the board
LA Rams trade back to pick 136 of 2020 NFL Draft to select TE Brycen Hopkins, but missed a chance to draft these players
With the 136th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the LA Rams selected Tight End Brycen Hopkins from Purdue. After redshirting his first season in college Hopkins productions increased over the next four years. By his senior season, he eclipsed 800 yards. However, he has a drop issue that he has struggled to overcome. A tight end with a case of dropped balls is not the best situation, so who did the Rams overlook at 136 who may have contributed to the team?. Let’s look at who is still on the board.
Center Tyler Biadasz from Wisconsin
I’ll keep harping on the center from the Wisconsin Badgers. I love Tyler Biadasz. His fall continues to baffle me as he was considered a first-round talent early in the scouting process. He has solid technique and makes plenty of checks before a snap. While he can be bullied by stronger opponents, some time in the weight room should correct that issue for him. The Rams will need to solidify their line for their new running back out of Florida State Cam Akers and Biadasz could do that.
Quarterback Jake Fromm from Georgia
The LA Rams don’t necessarily need a quarterback but Georgia QB Jake Fromm continues to fall. It’s not his fault, the NFL is oversaturated with young talented quarterbacks and the need isn’t there. His case wasn’t helped out by the fact that he came up small in some big games. However, a talented quarterback this low in the draft would make a nice backup. And he was projected as a potential round one or two selection.
Offensive Tackle Trey Adams from Washington
The Rams might need an offensive tackle and Trey Adams is available. Adams was talented enough to start 10 games as a true freshman. He’s 6-foot-8 and 320-pounds and has a ferocity that fans love to see in their offensive linemen. He was a projected first-round talent in 2017 but tore his ACL during the 2017 season. He decided to return back to college but he injured his back after returning to the starting lineup. Two successive injuries dropped his role on the Huskies. He finally put things back in order during the 2018 season and played a full 2019 season.
If he can stay healthy he would make a solid left tackle in waiting behind Rams’ current future left tackle Andrew Whitworth.
