Rams got a smart guy at 199 overall in Jordan Fuller
There are many things to like about the newest defensive back addition to the LA Rams roster
The LA Rams front office and coaching staff keep adding depth to the secondary, This time, the team selected a 40-game three-year starting safety and 2018-19 captain for the Ohio State Buckeyes, Jordan Fuller.
Fuller entered the Buckeyes football program as a 4-star recruit, and he got better until 2019, where he had kind of a mixed year. A clear dip from his previous campaign.
The Rams had four picks left before selecting the former Buckeye with the 199th overall pick. That pick slot was made famous by the selection of no other but Tom Brady, the new Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback. But Jordan Fuller is far and away from being at least impactful early in his career.
LA Rams’ fans will like Fuller’s IQ. He is more intelligent than the average player, that earned him being just the 14th player in Ohio State history to earn captain designation in two consecutive years.
As a player, he led the team in tackles in 2018, when he earned first-team All-Big Ten honors.

Based on his film, he plays slower than his 4.67-second 40-yard dash time suggests. He was often late to the play or trapped behind blockers when plays came towards him. After he falls behind, he lacks the burst to tackle in pursuit. Tackling isn’t his strength either, taking bad angles more often than not and needs to improve if he wants to be a special teams player early on.
Fuller is smarter than his traits and could find a way to contribute in special teams, Still, the Rams have a rather crowded field of current players. A crowded group combined with limits that show up on his not-so-exciting footage makes it hard for me to project a guaranteed spot for him.
Jordan Fuller developed a seminar to educate Ohio State athletes on sexual assault, sexual violence, and healthy relationships. That alone speaks great about his character and might be a locker room presence. A key off the field role often under talked and underappreciated.
He is also the brother of former UCLA wide receiver Devin Fuller, who was drafted in 2016 by the Atlanta Falcons and is currently a free agent.
The Rams yet again made no indication that the team has an interest in adding any offensive line support for the upcoming season (a fan favorite need), giving everybody the message that they are comfortable where they stand.
Jordan Fuller has a rather intriguing character and could find a role/depth spot in the roster, but competition might be tough.
