LA Rams final 3 picks of 2020 NFL Draft
After trading back from pick 126 to 136, the LA Rams landed two additional picks 248 and 250 in round 7 of the 2020 NFL Draft
The LA Rams have made their last three selections to close out the 2020 NFL Draft. The team had a fairly long shopping list heading into the draft, as the number of free agents leaving the team this year was fairly large. Of course, two areas of need were linebacker and interior lineman. And despite the signing of two non-NFL kickers, the Rams could always add a kicker to compete for starting roster. And so, the team selected a linebacker, kicker, and offensive guard. Let’s get a quick summary of the additions the Rams made.
234: Linebacker Clay Johnston
Clay Johnston is a linebacker out of Baylor. A great run stuffer he can read the flow of the offensive line to make a play. He is great at fighting through blocks and is consistent with his tackles. Johnston’s pass defense isn’t the best and he can in open space. His size and stature is similar to that of current Ram Micah Kiser. And he has the endorsement of former Rams safety Eric Weddle
While he should start off producing as a special team player Johnston might get thrust into action early as the Rams are thin at linebacker.

248: Place Kicker Sam Sloman
With the departure of long time veteran Greg Zuerlein, the LA Rams needed to get a new kicker. While the team did sign two non-NFL kickers in free agency, the Rams also decided to add one in the draft. Sam Sloman is a 5-foot-8 205-pound kicker out of Miami of Ohio. He was certainly accurate his senior season making 86.7% of kicks and 4 for 5 in 50+ yard kicks. He was 112 out of 114 in extra points in his career.
The longest kick he made was 53 yards. He is leg is average when it comes to distance but he certainly is accurate. The Rams are most focused upon the 40-49 yard range when kicking field goals, so he will definitely be tested early and often at that range.
250: Tremayne Anchrum
With the Rams looking for help after the offensive line woes of 2019, the team spent their final draft pick 250 on Clemson offensive lineman Tremayne Anchrum. Anchrum is a 6-foot-2 314-pound athletic offensive right tackle and great at finding his fit while blocking for the run. In the passing game, he is susceptible to bigger rushers and can be pushed back into the pocket and tends to overextend.
His size is more of a fit at offensive guard at the NFL level, Although he competed against some of the best NCAA defenses and held his own, Anchrum has some areas needed coaching. He is slow with his hands and needs to work on his speed reacting to the snap. Offensive line coach Aaron Kromer will certainly get the most out of him.
