Los Angeles Rams 2020 NFL Draft Grades
Round 6
The Rams didn’t have a 5th round pick, as it was part of the deal for now-former impact player Dante Fowler.
Pick 199 – Safety Jordan Fuller (Ohio State): The Rams added yet another safety, a position I consider a strength within the roster. But third-rounder Burgess and Fuller are not even similar.
While the former projects better in the nickel, Fuller has his experience as a single-high safety. As Snead said, “…these two are different skillsets.”
I would say Fuller plays better in zone-coverage, as he is rather slow (4.67-second 40-yard time). He could be a contributor early on in special teams, or in tight end coverage, as his 6-feet-2 frame allows him to.
Fuller might be the player with the highest football-IQ in this class, and he shows it in his game, with his tackling angles and in-game awareness; a true, natural leader on and off the field, Jordan was a two-time captain for the Buckeyes (a rarity for a big football program) and an Academic All-American.
Les Snead said after the draft, that several general managers around the league, as well as head coaches, texted him and McVay, complimenting them on the pick.
The Rams kept on their trend of drafting possible future contributors in positions that might get thin because of the 2021 free agency, as they did with the wide receiver and tight end groups.
