Rams news: NFL to release LA Rams schedule on Thursday
By Bret Stuter
In Rams news: The LA Rams 2020 schedule will be aired by the NFL this Thursday, May 7th, at 5:00 pm PT.
The LA Rams have one of the toughest schedules in the NFL in 2020. But the order of when the Rams face each opponent remains a mystery. A mystery that could create a nightmare for the young team who will need time to develop and gain momentum. A mystery as to when the team will have their bye week. And finally, a mystery as to who, when, and where the team faces the 17th game opponent.
That mystery will be solved this Thursday, May 7, 2020. This will be the full 17-week schedule, a rather controversial point in the recently approved NFL-NFLPA collective bargaining agreement.
The Rams schedule has already been ranked as tied with that of the Minnesota Vikings as the tenth-most-difficult schedule in the NFL. That compares favorably to that of the San Francisco 49ers, who face the fourth-toughest schedule in the NFL. It also is slightly better than that of the Arizona Cardinals, who will face the ninth-toughest schedule in the NFL. Only the Seattle Seahawks, who finished second in the NFC West in 2019, have an easier schedule. They will face the thirteenth-most-difficult schedule in the NFL.
The grand unveiling of the 2020 NFL schedule will be aired at 5 p.m. Pacific Time during an NFL Network three-hour Schedule Release ’20 show. For online access, the schedule will also be released on NFL.com and the NFL app.
We had previously reported on the Rams 2020 opponents. Since the Rams tougher opponents travel to Los Angeles, we had plenty of room for optimism. However, the move of QB Tom Brady from New England to Tampa Bay now makes the road game to the Buccaneers much more challenging, while the New England game at home could be much more manageable than originally hoped.

While we all know who the Rams face in 16 games, the addition of the extra game against a new opponent at a neutral site could have a huge impact. The Rams struggled to defeat good teams in 2019, They were 3-6 against NFL teams with a record of .500 or better. That means the team was 6-1 against teams below .500. Using that statistic alone, the Rams project to finish 9-7 in 2020 as well, as they face nine teams over .500, and seven teams whose records were below .500.
We are as excited to analyze that new schedule when it becomes available. So not only should you look for its release, but be sure to stop back here for a solid multi-layered analysis of how it will all play out in 2020.
