Week Two: At Philadelphia, September 20, 10:00 am PT broadcast by Fox Sports

The LA Rams face a difficult test of non-division games early in the season. While there is an argument to be made that this is a game the LA Rams will be expected to lose, it is an early-season trap nonetheless. After an emotionally charged game at home to kick-off the 2020 NFL Season, the Rams must travel to the east coast for two early-season road games.  The first is at Philadelphia to take on the Eagles, while the second is at Buffalo to take on the surprisingly good Bills.

While the Rams will no doubt make every attempt to remain on the east to play consecutive games on the eastern seaboard, this first game comes very early in the season and translates into a very early in the day kickoff time.  The Rams first three games of the season, while non-conference games, pit the Rams against three of the anticipated best teams of 2020.  In this game, the Rams face the Eagles after a heated contest at home against the Cowboys but staring at an even tougher showdown in Buffalo the following week.

With the Rams prepared to make a bold statement in the season opener, there is the risk of an emotional letdown in the followup game. And that will be compounded by the lengthy distance traveled, different time zone, and early start.  While Rams head coach Sean McVay seems to have a knack for winning east coast games, this one is a difficult game to remain focused upon, and with several key positions on both offense and defense manned by young players, there is a huge risk for a stinker in game two.

The Rams need to jump out to a commanding lead early in this one, and then run the ball and use short-yardage passes with two tight-end formations. If the Rams fall behind, there is little chance to catch up and win in this one.
