LA Rams News: As restrictions ease nationwide, Los Angeles County’s 3-month extension of Stay-At-Home may impact where Rams play football.

The LA Rams knew that the 2020 NFL season was always in question. But today’s news has ensured those questions will not fade away anytime soon. As May approaches the mid-point, many communities nationwide have expressed plans to restart the economy and relax the strict Stay-At-Home measures implemented to slow the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. Unfortunately, the Los Angeles community will not be joining them.

What does this mean for the NFL’s LA Rams and LA Chargers?  Well, that will be sorted out over time.  But one thing we do know. The NFL is a 32 team league. In short, it is an all-for-one and one-for-all football league which cannot run operations in the midwest section of the nation but prohibits operations in major US cities.

Of course, the NFL will have backup plans for each NFL team to allow for an NFL season to take place. Those plans likely relocate a team or team(s) to a safe stadium site to comply with local regulations.

That could mean the LA Rams playing home games at a site not known as SoFi stadium, which will be a huge disappointment for the team and the NFL. Or it could mean that the Rams play a “split schedule”, beginning the season with home games at an alternate site until the all-clear is given for LA.

If other NFL cities follow suit, another option is a postponed and shortened NFL season, which nobody wants but is better than no football. Right now, the NFL continues to operate as though the NFL season will begin on time for all 32 teams with no modifications.

Of course, these are unique times for all. New updates, such as the Los Angeles County decision today, will be discussed by NFL executives and a plan to comply with local regulations while ensuring the NFL season remains intact will no doubt be prepared. There are many factors contributing to the decisions being made nationwide right now.  There is no right and wrong when a decision walks the razor’s edge between the nation’s economy versus the nation’s health. Government leaders have the difficult task of trying to do what’s right for everyone.

Next. Time to embrace the LA Rams’ perfect imperfections. dark

It appears that patience will be needed a bit longer while this is sorted out.
