Enjoy the ride, bumps and all!

In the meantime, I have no intention of following along sheepishly and just applauding each move as though the team is flawless. Nor will I choose the path of despair, preparing myself for a disappointing season by writing off the team as quickly as the prognosticators.

One of the first major projects I had to undertake was a retrospective grading of the LA Rams 2017 NFL Draft class.  In that project, I first saw that the initial grades issued for the Rams 2017 NFL Draft class were C’s and low B’s.  The Rams draft class earned the lowest grade for a draft class by Mel Kiper. That draft class included TE Gerald Everett, WR Cooper Kupp, S John Johnson, WR Josh Reynolds, OLB Samson Ebukam, DT Tanzel Smart, FB Sam Rogers, and OLB Ejuan Price. Looking at the list today, the Rams drafted very well indeed. Most of the players selected were solid fits to what the team needed, even if just in a rotational or special teams role.

2020 is following a very similar track. Many of the skeptics judge harshly because they simply have no understanding of what head coach Sean McVay is attempting to accomplish this year.  Are the LA Rams imperfect?  Perfectly so.

Are the Rams truly more flawed than other NFL teams? Or are the mainstream sportswriters simply trying to measure the team’s progress with the wrong measuring stick? Art rests in the eye of the beholder. This Rams team is better than many expect it to be.
