LA Rams’ GM Les Snead should perform some salary cap magic and find a way to get Jadeveon Clowney into a LA Rams uniform

Salary cap woes have really hampered the LA Rams this offseason. The Rams are last in the NFL with a remaining salary cap cushion of $416,169, according to overthecap.com. They are heavily invested in two players: Quarterback Jared Goff and defensive lineman Aaron Donald.

Jared Goff’s contract accounts for 14.23 percent of the Rams cap money. Aaron Donald’s salary takes up another 12.26 percent of the cap space. Together, LA has invested 26.49 percent of their cap space in those two guys. While some argument can be made that Donald’s presence elevates the play of his teammates, there’s little proof that is true of Goff just yet.

Most noteworthy is the fact that the Rams will be paying out big bucks to former players. Both WR Brandin Cooks and RB Todd Gurley have seen their final payday from the Rams but much of their initial signing bonus still counts against the season’s cap total (dead cap money).

Still, the Rams have question marks. Right now, the Rams pass rush has a huge gap from last year’s sack total to address.  25 to be exact. That difference likely shrank today over the news that the Rams re-signed former defensive end, Morgan Fox. But the balance of the difference rests almost entirely upon veteran outside linebacker Leonard Floyd and rookie outside linebacker Terrell Lewis.  But should the Rams look to do more?
