The Rams have been searching for a solid left guard since losing veteran Rodger Saffold to the Tenessee Titans via free agency in 2019.  The Rams believe they may have his successor in newly added Austin Corbett. Still, if any questions remain, they could look to sign veteran guard Ron Leary.  Of course, that all depends on whether he would consider any team outside of the Dallas Cowboys

Leary would be an interesting addition for the Rams, particularly as the team strains to reestablish their running game as one of the NFL’s best this season. While he is not the long term solution to the Rams OL, he is that left guard keystone which places the entire offensive line back on track. He is a run-blocking mauler. A fierce love-to-block type of offensive lineman who will continue to seek defenders to block until a play is blown dead. He is just fine in pass blocking and is an immediate upgrade to prioritizing inside blitzes and communicating to teammates.

The LA Rams traded for Austin Corbett in 2019 and got a surprisingly effective performance from a player who suited as he deboarded from the plane. Still, he as patchwork, a player signed, suited-up, and starting simply because he was available via trade. With signing Leary, the Rams can reformulate the left guard/left tackle tandem to ensure the players assuming those roles next year are not only the best for the job, but have an entire season to build familiarity and trust in one another.
