The LA Rams struggled at the offensive right tackle in 2019. Veteran Rob Havenstein had a poor showing before the injury which benched him for the remainder of the season. And his replacement, rookie Bobby Evans, put up a respectable effort thanks to the help of tight-end Johnny Mundt. Will the competition at the tackle position between Evans and Havenstein result in solid play, or should the Rams add more competitors to the mix? Offensive tackle Cordy Glenn would be one such free agent to consider.

Glenn was recently cut by the Cincinnati Bengals just two years after trading for him from the Buffalo Bills.  He suffered a concussion in 2019 preseason which stretched well into the 2019 season., Ultimately, he disagreed with the pace of his return to playing status by the team, and was fined. The dispute was settled, and Glenn eventually started the final five of six games for the team.

Glenn anticipated being on the move in 2019 before his injury disrupted plans. The Bengals drafted first-round Jonah Williams, a player the team wanted to start at left tackle. That suggests that while Glenn has played left tackle, his skills translate to the right side just as well.

The Rams may still be invested entirely in developing Evans while bringing on Glenn. Of course, doing so pulls the plug on any rebound plans for Havenstein. While that may not make much sense to some, if Havenstein’s recovery or return to productive play is in question, that would make sense for the team to explore better options for the role.
