The LA Rams could use a dynamic, optimistic, steadfast producer on the defensive front. And former LA Rams Chris Long is an ideal player to be lured back into a rotational role for the LA Rams. An 11-year veteran Long played eight seasons as an LA Rams defensive end. He suffered an ankle injury in 2014, and a knee injury in 2015, which persuaded the Rams to go in a separate direction.
Thankfully, he rehabbed to full health and helped the New England Patriots to win a Super Bowl in 2016, He then signed with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2017, and helped them to win a Super Bowl as well. Now retired, he remained a very productive player on defense. Even as a rotational player in 2018, he recorded 6.5 sacks and 23 tackles in 612 defensive snaps.
Chris Long is the type of NFL player who has ascended beyond the game of football into a venerable positive force for his community. He has a social media presence that rivals that of long-time star quarterback Jim Everett, and his perspective for young players is irreplaceable in terms of personal accountability, preparation, and life beyond football.
He is a perfect example of someone to emulate both on and off the field. He takes deliberate steps in life, committing to perform only after he knows he can fulfill the obligation. He is the right type of player to coach young players through the challenge inherent in the NFL. And he has a bit of solid production left in him.
