LA Rams must pitch backup role to Cam Newton in next 72 hours

One of the most dangerous QBs in the game
It was no mistake that we didn’t name one of the most dangerous veteran free-agents until now, because we simply expected him to be way out of the LA Rams price range. Sometimes, the supply falls short of demand. Other times, demand falls short of supply. In 2019, the demand for veteran quarterbacks seems to have vanished, while very talented players still look for a team. That drives the price down. Veteran quarterbacks often are the highest-priced players signed by a team. We no longer believe that to be the case, based on the fire-sale prices for these quarterbacks:
A bear market for veteran QBs
Now, we believe that the market for veteran free-agent quarterbacks is ripe for the LA Rams to make a splash move, and signing Cam Newton to the backup role would be a cannonball that would rock the NFL. Where would his price come in at?
He is coming off a successful Lisfranc surgery to his left foot, which places his “ready to play” somewhere in the mid to late summer of 2020. Recovery after surgery of this nature is typically three months. But after rehab, there is an entirely new series of exercises, pain tolerance, and phased exercises to restore a professional athlete to playing strength and speed. Since Newton is now a free agent, progress reports on his status are difficult to obtain.
