Right tackle

Once thought to be the starting role for veteran right tackle Rob Havenstein for as long as he wore the LA Rams jersey, 2019 changed everything about that belief. Now Havenstein might be fighting to reclaim his job as well as his LA Rams career. As it stands today, Bobby Evans is the likely starter for 2020. Here’s why:

Bobby Evans is young and therefore costs the LA Rams just $880,545 in 2020. Haventstein costs ten times that amount. Additionally, the 2019 struggles on the offensive line proved to the Rams that younger may in fact be better.  If the Rams do attempt a youth movement with the offensive line, it is a far better route to place them all out there together and allow them to learn how to play together.

Depth chart

Evans ended the season on a high note. The Rams did draft a dark horse at right tackle, Clemson’s right tackle Tremayne Anchrum. He is an intelligent player and has the chance to slide in as a versatile backup. While the Rams have a neck and neck situation at right tackle, I lean towards veteran Rob Havenstein. The Rams have invested the most in him, and he has the most to prove in his comeback.

Now let’s dig into the right guard spot.
