Will LA Rams fans consider drafting Jared Goff in their fantasy football league

Since the NFL will be playing a full schedule in 2020, fantasy football players have begun putting their draft strategies into place. There are plenty of talented players among the LA Rams to draft. Will Jared Goff be selected high in any fantasy league drafts?

Production is the key ingredient in building a fantasy football team. Your players have to score touchdowns and gain yards. Ever wonder how Goff’s production compares to other quarterbacks?

Every fantasy player has their method of filling their roster. One method is buying a fantasy draft magazine and following their advice. Another method is to create a bell curve analysis for each position group.

Where to rank a quarterback like Goff?

The bell curve reveals where players rank according to their statistical performance. For example, an elite, top-10 quarterback would throw for 4,583 yards with 30 touchdowns. Sometimes the offensive philosophy dictates the team’s statistical direction.

Quarterbacks do not put up big numbers in traditional run-first teams. Their running backs are the benefactor. Tight ends usually just block in those offenses.

Last season, Goff threw for 4,638 yards with 22 touchdowns. Therein lies the Goff dilemma. An average NFL quarterback throws 22 touchdown passes. Goff’s passing yardage is top tier but pass touchdown production is not.

Weekly matchups and bye weeks

Weekly matchups are very key to winning fantasy football games. The Rams should be able to move up and down the field on inferior defenses. Goff would be a better play that week.

A brief survey among fantasy football websites shows that Goff ranks in the bottom half of quarterbacks. Matthew Berry of espn.com ranks Goff as his 17th ranked quarterback. Goff ranks at the same spot on yahoo.com‘s quarterback fantasy rankings.
