LA Rams coaches McVay, Staley, O’Connell are NFL’s newest 3 amigos

The LA Rams future is in the hands of three young NFL coaches – the 3 amigos
The LA Rams knew that the team had hit upon something special, or rather someone special when they reached the pinnacle of NFL aspirations by competing in Super Bowl LIII, just two years after assuming their head coaching position. Perhaps even more unlikely was the fact that the team’s rapid rise was orchestrated by a very young head coach, Sean Mcvay.
A rapid rise, yes, but one that led to a disappointing descent in 2019. Disappointing, yes. But perhaps a necessary one. Greatness only occurs after a setback. That starts the wheels in motion to pause, reexamine, and renew. That is an excellent exercise for the Rams head coach Sean McVay.
Can lightning strike twice?
After all, McVay’s 33-15 record since assuming the reins of the Rams is pretty spectacular for the youngest head coach to ever appear in a Super Bowl. In fact, McVay has never faced a losing season. So it makes perfectly good logic for the Rams to pursue adding to that type of success. But that opens this discussion to the most basic question. How?
The Rams do not need to reinvent the wheel. The team found rapid success by locking up a young head coach who had unbridled passion, unequal expertise, and created a cooperative, communicate, and collaborative culture. So simply by adding other coaches of similar age, passion, expertise, and willingness to collaborate, the team should expect similar results. That is why the Rams hired defensive coordinator Brandon Staley and offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell. They make up three legs to the Rams coaching triad – the three amigos.
