LA Rams: Ranking NFC West TEs for fantasy football drafts
By Larry Brake
Arizona Cardinals TEs have very ugly production
The Arizona Cardinals are in the process of restructuring their offensive identity. In a matter of several seasons, the Cardinals have gone from an Air Coryell offense to West Coast to now an Air Raid offensive season. The tight end position is a diminished position within that offensive scheme.
Last season, Cardinals tight end Charles Clay caught 18 passes for 237 yards with one touchdown. Fantasy-wise, he scored 47 points while appearing in 15 regular-season games. Clay is currently an unsigned free agent. What about the other Arizona tight end production in 2019? Maxx Williams caught 15 passes for 202 yards with one touchdown. Dan Arnold caught six passes for 102 yards with two touchdowns.
Six of one, half dozen of the other
There are six tight ends on the current Arizona roster. Ryan Becker and Parker Houston are rookies. Dylan Cantrell and Darrell Daniels have very limited NFL playing time. Williams and Arnold are projected to get the majority of targets.
Arizona did not use a draft pick on a tight end in the 2020 NFL Draft. That speaks volumes on how the Cardinals value the tight end position. Unless they re-sign Clay, there is no reason to consider drafting any of these tight ends. There you have it, the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly among the NFC West tight ends.
