LA Rams News: Recent upticks in NFL players testing positive for Coronavirus has triggered NFLPA discouraging private workouts

As the LA Rams remain in step with the entire NFL by adhering to the latest restrictions to prevent the rapid spread of COVID-19 throughout the staff, NFL Players have pretty much been advised that they are pretty much on their own for the time being. And so, players have coordinated working out in their community to remain prepared for the start of the official NFL Training camps across the nation.

But a funny thing happened recently. That dreaded coronavirus pandemic has spiked in several communities where NFL players have been working out together.  In fact, some teams have recently reported multiple player testing positive for COVID-19.  That development precipitated the following update from the NFL Players’ Association.

The message was scripted in the direction of  Doctor Thom Mayer. It states that due to the COVID-19 increase in certain states, no players should be engaged in practicing together in private workouts. And so, another avenue of training shut down.

COVID-19 remains the issue

And so, not only are teams prohibited from working with players. Now players are prohibited from working out together.  That creates problems for NFL quarterbacks, who rely upon working out with receivers to maintain their timing on downfield routes. And it does the same for NFL receivers who need to sustain their timing and route-running techniques.

NFL players are trying their best to remain in the correct physical conditioning. Professional football is a team sport, which means football players need to practice in groups. While the NFL has prohibited NFL teams from hosting or organizing those workouts, many players have done so on their own with their team’s blessing.  Now that the Player’s Association has come out against the practice, players must await NFL Training camps scheduled to begin at the end of July 2020.
