LA Rams Terrell Lewis could be the next NFL star edge rusher
By Bret Stuter
Coming from a winning football program
The closest thing to NFL caliber coaching, competition, and pressure in collegiate football is found at the University of Alabama. After all, the Crimson Tide has been in the mix of the NCAA national for many years, particularly since head coach Nick Saban has taken over the reins of the football program. That program has been the launching pad of many NFL careers.
After all, success in college comes with a bit of undefeatable arrogance, the attitude of a rookie who has yet to take a single NFL snap that he can trash talk an NFL Veteran. Thankfully, Terrell Lewis would never do anything like that…
er. Twice. He would never trash talk twice.
Crimson Tide teammate
Of course, when you hail from Alabama, you are bound to encounter another NFL player from your alma mater. So it should not surprise anyone that Terrell Lewis will be joining fellow alumni in A’Shawn Robinson, another big powerful defender. What does that mean for Lewis? He’s assured a ready-made NFL mentor on the defensive side of the ball.
Robinson may be new to the LA Rams, but he’s a wizened veteran of the expectations set by the NFL Draft. He’s learned the hard lesson of NFL life, that fame and fortune are fleeting. Opportunities to shine sometimes means doing the tough work in the trenches so that others can find the NFL spotlight. And that sometimes NFL stardom is about delivering what the coach asks, versus what your agent demands. NFL careers are built upon many compromises, many relationships, and seizing fleeting opportunities that don’t double back for a second pass. It takes passion and a great work ethic.
