Could former Rams coach Mike Martz help LA Rams QB Jared Goff over the hump?
The LA Rams quarterback Jared Goff is the center of discussions in recent days. One of the highest-paid players in the NFL as well as one of the youngest quarterbacks to compete in the Super Bowl can foster a wide range of topics for sports debate.
Of course, any NFL player has flaws – things that they simply do not do well. But the Achilles Heel of Rams quarterback Jared Goff is somewhat of a big deal. He struggles if he has to read his progressions and throw to his secondary or tertiary targets on a passing play.
The old wound hasn’t healed
This is not new. It’s plagued him since he arrived at the NFL in 2016 as a rookie. But the 2019 performance was a serious reminder that this is an issue that won’t go away, isn’t something he’ll grow out of, and hasn’t been coached into his rearview mirror.
While the matter was certainly impacted heavily from an offensive line play that struggled to block in 2019 due to rampant injuries, it remains an issue. And while it’s true that the Rams offense seems to find a way to succeed in spite of misfirings, coaching wise, this is a pretty big issue to be swept under the “clean that up” rug.
A familiar flaw for Jared Goff? Let’s dig further.
