Team 11 – Indianapolis Colts (7-9)
I love the Indianapolis Colts under head coach Frank Reich. I think he is one of the most underrated head coaches in the NFL. After the down year of 2019, I believe they will rebound nicely in 2020. But the team will need to improve is several areas.
2019 summary
As the Indianapolis prepared for the 2020 season, the team has the confidence that 2019’s 7-9 record is not who this team is. In fact, the Colts lost starting QB Jacoby Brissett for the majority of the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the following week. But the Colts struggled in a four-game losing streak which sank their playoff hopes from a year ago.
Players lost
The Colts lost veteran TE Eric Ebron, CB Pierre Desir, WR Devin Funchess, OT Joe Haeg, backup QB Bryan Hoyer, and C Josh Andrews.
Players added
The Indianapolis Colts added veteran QB Philip Rivers, CB Xavier Rhodes, DT Sheldon Day, FB Roosevelt Nix, TE Trey Burton, WR Michael Pittman, RB Jonathan Taylor, S Julian Blackman, QB Jacob Eason, and WR Dezmon Patmon.
2020 outlook
One of the little know facts, TE Trey Burton will reunite with his former offensive coordinator-turned-head-coach Reich. This pair was famous for the Philly! Philly! touchdown play which helped the Eagles defeat the Patriots in their Super Bowl matchup. But even more curious is the role of veteran QB Phillip Rivers on this team. Whether he earns the starting job or not, the competition at QB will benefit this Colts team immensely.
