Team 8 – Seattle Seahawks (11-5)

I don’t think that the Seattle Seahawks are as good in 2020 as 2019. But until Jadaveon Clowney signs elsewhere, I’ll leave them here. The Seahawks will always be a very dangerous team as long as quarterback Russell Wilson remains healthy.

2019 summary

The Seattle Seahawks have a solid running game if the running backs remain healthy, solid pass-catching tight end Will Dissly if he remains healthy, and true receiver threats if they stay healthy. In 2019, only the receivers stayed healthy.  The Seahawks set the stage to win now in 2019 by the addition of Jadavian Clowney and RB Marshawn Lynch’s return. Both players are gone now, and the Seahawks will try to win without them.

Players lost

The Seattle Seahawks lost 24 players who remain unsigned, including RB Marshawn Lynch, DE Jadaveon Clowney, DE Ezekiel Ansah, OLB Mychael Kendricks, and center Justin Britt. Add to that OT George Fant, G D.J. Fluker, RT Germain Ifedi, and DT Quinton Jefferson

Players added

The Seahawks tried to fill roster holes in the offensive line by adding OT Brandon Shell, C B.J. Finney, TE Greg Olsen, and DE Bruce Irvin and RB Carlos Hyde. Notable pickups in the 2020 NFL Draft include LB Jordyn Brooks, EDGE Darrell Taylor, and Alton Robinson, and OG Damien Lewis.

2020 outlook

The Seahawks improved their long-term outlook in this offseason, but the short term is quite the mystery.  The offensive line was downright decimated, and the team went with young edge rushers. I kept the Seahawks in the top ten out of respect, but I am already regretting that decision.
